Thermal capture of houses of South Birmingham and Wolverhampton

During this project we estimate that we have captured more than 400,000 houses, generating more than 20 million thermal images.

Never before, to our knowledge has any company or university captured such a wide dataset of high quality images.

This dataset will be the founding stone of the development of an AI model to be able to generate automatically reports and recommendation on how to reduce CO2 emissions by cutting heat loss from homes.

In a nutshell

During Skilled Mapping's Thermal U.K. project in South Birmingham and Wolverhampton, our team utilised mobile mapping and street-level capture to amass an unparalleled dataset of over 20 million high-quality thermal images, covering more than 400,000 houses. This remarkable achievement in thermal capture technology provides the foundation for an AI model that will automatically generate reports and recommendations on reducing CO2 emissions through improved home insulation. This extensive dataset sets a new standard in the industry, as no other company or university has collected such a comprehensive thermal imaging dataset before.
